Alright I am going to break down the key possesions in this game at this point Iowa has trailed since the Shockers took the lead and we have finally cut the lead to 7 after an Eric May 3 pointer.
WSU first possesion 49 to 42 We force Hannah into a difficult shot which he misses but Cole has the rebound slip right through his hands and Hannah picks it up and scores

Iowa first possesion 51 to 42 May is short on an open 3 but it was a good shot that he had confidence after just making one so still down by 9
WSU 2nd possesion Payne gets his 3rd foul and then a jump ball keeps it with the Shockers. Murray misses a 3 but another offensive rebound they do turn the ball over so the score is still 51 to 42
Iowa 2nd possesion 51 to 42 May drives to the basket and gets fouled goes to the line and makes a pair of free throws so we are now down by 7 51 to 44 right in this game.

Iowa 3rd possesion 51 to 44 on a 14 to 5 run Tucker tries to drive and travels bad turnover he had no where to go on the play.
WSU 4th possesion 51 to 44 We get another defensive stop still 51 to 44
Iowa 4th possesion 51 to 44 Payne has the ball stolen from him
WSU 5th possesion 51 to 44 Murray hits an open shot for them 53 to 44
Iowa 5th possesion May hits an open jumper inside the free throw line set up on the assist by Payne 53 to 46
WSU 6th possesion 53 to 46 Murray and 1 looked like Cole got there to take the charge especially since Murray lowered the shoulder so 55 to 46 he misses the free throw
Iowa 6th possesion 55 to 46 Gatens finds Cougill and he lays it in 55 to 48
WSU 7th possesion another offensive rebound they don't score so still 55 to 48
Iowa 7th possesion Payne is fouled but misses the front end of the one and one big miss we had the momentum if he makes 2 it is a 2 possesion game.
WSU 8th possesion We play good defense but another offensive rebound Williams scores to make it 57 to 48 so were down by 9

Murray and Stutz score back to back baskets and were back down 16 with 6 minutes to go game over so we could of won this game if you look at the key possesion we had a lot of opportunities to cut into this lead.
We had 5 turnover in this span of 12 possesions where the game was there for the taking.
They scored 4 points off second chance points which isn't a lot with all the rebounds they were getting and Payne missed a front end of the 1 and 1 basically we had a chance to win this game but we made too many mistakes in the key possesions in this game. We were down by 7 55 to 48 Payne missed the front end of the one and one and then we had 2 turnovers on consecutive possesions when could of cut into the lead. We then cut the lead to 59 to 50 and once again 2 more turnovers on consecutive possesions. Yeah I know we aren't that great of a team but I think we are going to look back at this game and see a lot of missed opportunities in a game we could of won.

Iowa Basketball
Well we are going to find out a lot about this team very early in the season because the early season schedule we play a lot of veteran teams including Texas San Antonio who we beat 73 to 67 last year in a closely contested came in Iowa City. Our second game we host Duquesne an experienced team should give us a challenge then we host Bowling Greene before we head to Kansas City and Play Texas in the 1st game of CBE classic. The second game we play will be vs the Winner or loser of the game of Pittsburg vs Wichita State. After these 5 games we will know how good this team could be or is.
Our first 5 games should tell us a lot about this team with a lot of new players I think this team has the potential to be very good. I think they have more talent this year with the addition of Cully Payne in the back court looks like he will be the starter at point guard plus getting Tucker back should do a lot for this team on the offense. I think this is going to be a breakout year for Cole who should average double figures in points and rebounds he has also added the outside shot to his game.
I'm excited for the season to get rolling and it kicks off on November 15th vs Texas San Antonio this should be an interesting year to see how much improvement we see from this team. They are more experienced this year and yes they need their young players to play well if were going to compete in the BIG TEN.

Iowa Football
Well we got by Indiana they gave us a scare for a while but we beat them and are still in 4th place in the BCS. Yes Stanzi threw 5 interceptions but nothing bothers this guy he came right back in the 4th and threw 2 TD passes to put us ahead for good. Wegher also had a big game with 119 yards and 3 TD's hopefully this is a sign of things to come. This is the last hurdle before we head to Columbus so the Wildcats can not be overlooked. Northwestern is that same team they always are they will spread us out and run and pass out of the shotgun, Kafka is a very good QB but he injured his leg so I'm not sure what his status is right now if he plays this becomes a more difficult game. He had them in the lead vs Penn St untill he got hurt then Penn State reeled off 24 points in the 2nd half to rout the Wildcats 34 to 13.
On Offense I think we should be able to run all over them they are banged up on the defensive line and Penn State ran for a lot of yards on them including one run by Royster where he wasn't even touched. WE need some style points so a big win over the Wilcats could help us out and this is a team that we could blow out as long as we don't commit turnovers like we did vs Indiana. I expect a big performance Stanzi this weekend and Wegher should have a big game. I think this should be a big win for us but if we overlook the Wildcats they could make this a close game and even pull of an upset so we have to come ready to play.
